Some landlords do accept DSS - however, the rent is usually delayed initially because of the paperwork, but once the system has been set up the rent is guaranteed. So, all your landlords who are concerned about rent payments, having someone as a tenant who is on DSS is not all bad news. Sorry I cant help you here as I dont live in your area, but I hope you find a suitable property and that everything works out for you.

You want to contact the local council and ask for a list of ' accredited landlords'. These are landlords that have had their properties assessed by the council for gas/electric safety tests etc. It also means deposits are protected so they are more likely to let to housing benefit tenants. Try emailing this woman, she is the accreditation officer for Wakefield Council.

A lot of councils will pay the deposit for you to rent in the private sector, ask.

not another scrounger?

In this day and age how on earth did you get yourself pregnant knowing that you did not have anywhere to live.

Most sensible people get their lives organised before taking on the responsibilty of motherhood.
