Reposting because I said hcg instead of prolactin :) Sorry!

First off, I am not pregnant - had 2 blood tests both negative (and a large # of HPTs ALL negative :) ). So I know that's not the issue. But I went for 2 prolactin tests because I had some discharge from my breasts, which was very unusual. I am on the pill, and my gyno is thinking that's what it is causing this - been on the pill for about 7 years (apri/desogen). The first test for prolactin showed an "elevated" level of 36.8. The gyno sent me for another just to see if it was higher (or lower) since she said that the levels can be different throughout the day depending on certain things. I'm waiting on the 2nd results today, and the gyno said if it's close to 50 or higher at this time, then they'll do an MRI to check my pituitary gland. The thing is this has never happened before, and I was just curious to hear other experiences with this. Thanks in advance!

This could definitely be related to the pituitary gland. I have a friend who has a disorder that affects her pituitary gland, and she has to have x-rays, MRIs done fairly regularly to keep a check on it. I would also recommend consulting an endocrinologist (these doctors treat diseases and disorders that involve hormones such as the pituitary gland) to see what they think about this situation as well.
