Yes...those of us in higher education enjoy stressing young kids and their parents out...er...wait...that's not what I wanted to say.
No...finding a college doesn't have to be stressful. If you're not one of those people who NEED to be in the top 1% of everything then it doesn't have to be stressful. Just apply on time, apply for financial aid on time and choose a school which you feel comfortable with.

You want to know the truth? Personally, and I have had a lot of experience, I think the differences between schools is almost nil, unless you know specifically what you are going to go into. People make a big deal about which schools are the best, but in the end your choice is really just this: small, private school, Ivy League school (if you can even get into one), or public school. Decide which of those you want, and then just pick one, perhaps the cheapest or closest to home. You'll get a perfectly good education, and in the end which school you went to will likely have almost no impact on your life. If you have a specific area you are interested in and want to go the best school for that, just google your area and go from there. In any case, don't make it more stressful than it really is.

Just relax. It is going to be stressful because it is a big decision but remember college is going to be FUN. It isn't like high school it is soo much better you are going to love it. With that in mind get a general feel for the colleges you have in mind. Try to decide which you will like best based on what you like to do and what you want to study. Apply to all the ones you want to go to and then decide which one you like best out of the accepted ones.

Applying for colleges can be time consuming and seem overwhelming but just keep remembering it is so worth it. In a year or two you will look back on your college decision and be so thankful you did it, and took your time with it.

no! You should enjoy it - it is deciding your future!

Start by looking for things you will want to be involved in. If you know you'll want to be a member of the choir, look at schools with choirs, and their pictures, and their activities... That'll get you excited, and will help you find choices you prefer.

Then, look at student life... See all the things campus does... It'll get you really pumped up.

Visit college campuses! That's the best, and if you can do an overnight stay, do it.

Get excited!! College is a lot of fun.

No, I didn't think it was stressful at all, I enjoyed looking at different colleges and imagining what life would be like there. Try to make it fun. Look at schools that really interest you.
