Oh congratulations! You're going to have a precious little one soon!
If you try to fight the pain, it will make it worse. So why not make yourself as comfortable as possible. Asking for pain relief does not make you weak. When you're dilated enough ask about getting an epidural. Until then, try to focus on breathing in deeply and exhaling deeply through the contractions. Its a method to deter your mind from the pain.
I went on the maternity tour last night and they told me to bring my laptop in case I wanted to email out pictures right away. So I know hospitals DO allow this nowadays.
Keep reading through the positive messages, breathe, and dont be afraid. Women have babies every day and you'll get through it too!
All my best to you!
What does the epidural feel like???

Oh, sweetie, isn't your mom near enough to come be with you? Or a sister? Any female relative? Call a friend !
If you are truly alone where you are, ask the hospital if they can get you a Doula - a labor coach.. she will stay with you and knows how to help and be supportive.
Tune the laptop into some soothing music on another page, something like new age, Enya.
Just know that it will all happen naturally, and in a few hours you'll be holding your little love of your life and every single moment will be worth it. Wish you were nearby, I'd come be with you myself..
hugs from here,
Mom of two, Gramma of two.
Congratulations !! Welcome Amanda Lilly !!!

WOW you go girl. You are one heck of a woman doing this alone and yet on your computer while doing it. Labor is very painful but its all worth it in the end. Get up and walk around this might help you to dialate more. Also the more they check you the softer your cervix will become. breath evenly and dont exhaust yourself your gonna need all your energy soon. Ask about an epideral if your hurting bad. Theres also other times of meds that are safe for baby to help you relax. Dont be afraid to ask. Congrats

Oh sweetie. Good luck! You will be great. I know it hurts and feels like its never going to end but imagine how you are going to feel when you are holding your baby in your arms. You will do great! Just breath, relax, try and focus and think about that precious little baby that you are going to have soon.
And my sister was in labor for 2 days - not real hard labor in the beginning of course- but she was able to use her laptop. they encouraged her so she could get her mind on something else.
You had said a couple of days ago that your doctor would not induce you until 51 weeks and that you were 45 weeks along.

No reason to be scared sugar. We've been doing this for thousands of years.
When having a contraction concentrate on relaxing. We tend to tense up when we have pains. But the act of relaxing does help with the pain.
You've got a ways to go yet.... but remember if the pain gets more than you can stand, ask of an epidural. There is no dishonor in it......

just breath and know that you are about to have a wonderful bundle of joy in your arms soon! Enjoy the rest of your time and rest, rest, rest, or at least try to. You will need all the rest you can get right now. You are a strong woman and you are going to do this! You dont need a man to help you! You can do this. Be strong for your baby! All of your worries wont matter in a few hours, you will have the love of your life right there with you! Good luck and remember just breath!

I was induced with my first and no matter what just know that you are at the hospital and everything will be okay.... THey know what they are doing. As far and pain, the moment you see that little you, you will forget all the pain. Also pushing is a relief do not fear it. This is gross but treat pushing like when you have a bowel movement, that is the correct way to push.
Best of luck!! You are doing great!!

Does the hospital have a doula program? A doula is a trained labor coach, usually female.
If they don't have one, ask if one of the childbirth educators can be called in to help you through labor. You shouldn't go through it alone.
Can you have a friend or your mom or sister or somebody come and hold your hand?

Well good Luck, it will not be long now. When are they going to break your water, that will really get things going. You don't have a family member or friend that could be with you? If I lived by where you are, where ever that is, I would come up to sit with you. :) I would hate to think that I had to do that alone and I am sad that you do.
Good Luck and keep us updated!

It does hurt a lot to be induced. I had to be induced with my first. If you still can, get an epidural done. I was going to go natural, but it hurt too much. An epidural will be your lifesaver! Don't be too afraid. Try to relax, just breathe and be happy. You'll be feeling sore, but amazing later!
