i have a geforce 440 64mb in it right now, whats the best card i can put in it? will a geforce 7 work? also a fried lent me his geforce 5 to try out but my computer would start why is that?

No of course not...
You have an AGP Port... probably 4x.
You need to get an AGP VIDEO CARD...

Lookup your motherboard and see what video aperature it supports, then find a card according on www.newegg.com

find the motherboard manufacturer and the model number, goto the manufacturer site and dl the manual, find out the highest supported agp (4x 8x ect) then locate proper card.

The info needed here isn't the processor but rather the motherboard. If the video card is supported, it might require BIOS adjustments too. Please post back with your motherboard for additional help.
