I have a South Dakota quarter that was minted in San Francisco instead of Denver or Philadelphia, is it worth anything?

Some how you ended up with a quarter that came from a proof set. The set may have been broken up for several reasons, but is strange the coin ended up in circulation for people are saving the state quarters. The SD quarters are selling for around $5 each. A dealer will pay less and if your coin was found in circulation, then it is considered a mishandled proof and is worth less due to wear and handling. You have actually a rare find, but it is not a rare quarter. It is a good conversation piece.
