I've been wondering about whether Rap will go out of fashion. The music of Rap, and to be truthful, were a lot better and memorable in the 2000,1,2,3,4,5 era than now. I think nowadays Rap artists are spending less time on their songs. Its easy to remember all those old rap songs: e.g. Cold as Ice, Ante Up, Who's that girl? etc... If you do believe Rap will be out of fashion explain why and what will be the next big genre.

it's not gonna happen because "rap" it's a way to express oneself, not more not less
HipHop is a movement, movement just don't aged, they evolve. It has integrated jazz, rock and electro, it even went "abstract". i can't think of a bigger genre, so maybe we don't share the same standards

I think it will take a while before rap goes out of fashion, The problem with rap in this era is the lyrics are sometimes, wacky, c rap, the only thing that is selling in rap songs nowadays is sex, the songs have women, showing their butts, are breast which is quite demeaning. Don't get me wrong you have some good rappers out there but I rather have the real one's. Whats up with songs like; laffy taffy or chicken noodle soup, ... I love rap and all that but you have some rappers that are killing it LITERALLY! Hopefully it won't go out of fashion too soon, well except the useless rappers out there.

It will never go totally out of fashion (unfortunately).

Rap is based on the little sing-song rhyming kids have always done throughout the ages. This is why it became so popular, because it's foundation is that of the lowest common denominator. Since the sing-song rhyming of youth has existed as long as it has, then expect rap to be around in some form for quite awhile yet.

Rap is here to stay, but i feel you on how it was so much better and had more substance back in the 80's, 90's and early 2000.

I think consumers and fans will get sick of the same old tired beats and lack of substance and will resort back to the older stuff. Once album sales are down, perhaps artists will start doing rap for the music again, rather than the money

btw, i love ante up!

Soon but not for long

Boy band and the Spice girls will have a year or 2 serge. and then will die off forever

soon afterword REAL R&B will make a grab at the spotlight and hold for a few years

Country will then rise...not good country mind you

then we will get another dose of programmed rock.

Then my children will start listing to underground gansta rap and it will start anew

maybe. a lot of the rap today is pretty bad. lots of the songs just repeat the same line over and over so if the quality continues to be poor, i'd think people might get tired of hearing it.

I didn't know rap was a fashion, but a style of music. I think you mean urban fashion and its here to stay.

It has always been out of fashion and in poor taste and talent, the last generation will forever be labeled by their obsession as no talent artistically wasted losers.
