well it depends on the person....i flatter my friends all the time...the only reason being, is that i think it cheers them up and makes them not so insecure about certain things!!
other people might do it for a one night thing....

Well, they might just like and respect you but in most cases they want something, namely to get in your pants. At least that's what I find.

Pretty much, and that's usually the case. Asskissers highly annoy me. I usually snap and go postal on them after a while.
