I've never been able to figure it out. Our plumbing is correct, the toilets are cold water (I'm 100% sure) But whenever someone flushes, the shower turns cold, not hot. How can this be? :( Can someone explain this to me? I keep reading that if this is the case, the toilet HAS to be connected to the hot water, but they simply aren't

It could be excess pressure caused by the flushing which is pushed through the shower pipe that is already open. This could happen if ur shower is connected between ur toilet and geyser. Very rare case though. Sounds refreshing. Lol

It could be that your valve in the shower needs replaced. Some shower valves have a feature that adds more water from the cold water line when the pressure drops in the water line due to something like a toilet flush. It is meant to keep the water in the shower the same temperature. I'd recommend going to a plumbing supply store for bathrooms and kitchens and ask them.

there are two cases here, number 1 it could be that it is hot water to the toilet, flush it and see, number 2 your hot water heater may be the issue as well, what temp is it set at, what is it age and flow amount. but really the only way it can turn your shower cold is something is hooked up wrong somewhere

The line going to the toilet is robbing the water heater of its volume of flow. Therefore when the toilet is flushed the flow into the water heater is reduced .

The water should traditionally run hot when someone flushes the toilet. I'm baffled as well.

till your bathroom is plumbed to the nice and comfortable water line particularly than the chilly, flushing it somewhat is going to usually reason the bathe to run warm. motives why is that (based upon your plumbing), the chilly water utilized by skill of the bathroom throughout the flushing and tank fill up technique reduces the quantity of chilly water attainable for the bathe. for this reason, the bathe has a mix of much less chilly water to the comparable warm water, and is warmer than it otherwise would be.
