I have just bought my son a yamaha yh50 scooter over the net, it is aparently a dark maroon/purpley colour but the picture was not very good. Anyway it was the type he wanted so i bought it. Now he is saying he cant ride a purple bike all his friends would laugh at him. Does anyone have this color bike and is it so bad?

I had a purple(ish) Fizzie when I was 16. Nobody took the mick out of me for it. I now have an R6, but it was that first bike that started me on the road to big bikes.
Tell him colour doesn't matter. Its got 2 wheels and an engine. Its a "Fanny Magnet" guaranteed to get him a snog outside the Chippy!
Dare to be different. The amount of blokes yo see in pink shirts nowdays....purple shouldn't be a problem.

I've not seen the colour, but I say use this as an opportunity for your son to really get to know his bike.
Buy a Haynes manual (usually the best) and have him strip it down and paint it himself. Tell him he can take the opportunity to customise it and make it look exactly the way he wants. If he does it, cool. If he doesn't, maybe he won't complain about the colour! LOL

Locate some stickers to put on it.
The stickers will make it look unique and the color won't matter as much.
Flames, scull & cross bones, sport bike stunts, use your imagination and let him pick them.
Or just give him the ultimatum - take it or leave it.
