That Western exposure and influence has become part of Indian lives, in the old days very few people traveled abroad, but now, it is an everyday thing, so people bring back the culture. With the Internet and other types of media, learning about other culture and trying them out has become the "in" thing. Traditions and values have been compromised and at the same time certain ritualistic and narrow minded aspects have been ridden off as well - so there is good and bad.

Movies adapt to reality, not the other way around.
I´m sure that you have noticed that there are big changes going on in the Indian society, tastes are also changing, etc...
It´s just happening the same in Bollywood as in Hollywood... I am sure you have seen also these typical American movies of the 50th and 60th? Just one example: The typical female role in these movies was a mother, loving and caring house wife, girl looking for a husband... etc, reflecting the morals and political correct American way of life of these years. Everything was cute and innocent, sex didn´t even exist in these movies...
Watch an American movie now. Would you say that the female role is still the same? No, because women have changed, society has changed, etc
Would you say that in 20 / 30 years Bollywood will be totally different than nowadays... we will not even recognise it anymore.
I think movies are like a mirror of society and movies adapt to political changes, economical changes, changes of the society itself.
I sometimes miss these old kind of movies, because at least you could dream away a little and for a little time the world was still okay....

I doubt it...Bollywood films are, for the most part, as formulaic as the films churned out by Hollywood under the studio system (an the less said about the remakes of remakes coming out today, the better). If the India's culture *is* changing, it's coming from Indians themselves, and attributing those changes to mass media is specious (how's that for a $10 word, kiddies?) at best.

I guess the audience is getting the best of both the worlds as the gap shortens between B'wood and H'wood.
