I stopped going out to bars and pubs because of the smoke. I and others I know had to stop playing music at pubs and bars because of the smoke from all the customers was effecting not only our throats but our music as well.
Now, we are talking about getting the Band together again! No more Smoke, No more Smoke! It's a dream come true.
And we will not have to smell like an ashtray when we get home. Ah Bliss.. No more Smoke!

I'm a non-smoker, so yes, it's nice to go to a bar and not choke all night, not have to go home reeking of foul smoke, not have burning, blood-shot eyes at the end of the night, not worry about some idiot behind me ashing in my hair or drink (it's happened a few times). But it's annoying going to a bar and having 3/4 of my friends disappear every 15 minutes for 5 minutes at a time to go smoke.

We've had non smoking bars in Los Angeles for about 10 years, The bars and Rock n Roll clubs are still packed. It's a lot easier to breath in the clubs now, especially the smaller ones.

I don't mind smoke in a bar at all. however there is a smoky smell in restaraunts like Denny's open for several years that is tolerable, but lingers on the clothes throughout the day! But anywhere theres loud music and alcohol, there aught to be right to smoke.
Ive seen a "smoke room" at an office with all glass windows looking outside (some containing exaust fans) and snack/beverage machines.

Empty bars? Not exactly. Pubs, bars and restaurants are all as busy as ever - I can just breathe easily in them. Yes, I am enjoying the night life more now smoking is banned.

Speaking as a very "unlousy" American (non-smoker), I personally believe that smoking SHOULD be allowed in bars. Drinking is a self-destructive habit, so it makes perfect sense that places that facilitate this should also allow a habit such as smoking as well. But please, let's not point fingers people! If your government doesn't have a mind of it's own and willingly follows mine on every fool-hearted errand, it's simply illogical and may I say ignorant to go lumping us all together... Peace, yo!

I never went out at night before the new laws. But I do love being able to go to a restaurant where I can actually enjoy my food without smokers polluting the air and ruining the taste of my food.

Yet again, here is an example of the government poking its head where it is not needed, wanted,or required. It started with the lousy Americans and is now spreading.
