You should first question the logic behind studying logic. If you cannot apply logic, you wouldn't have reached Uni in the first place (theoretically). I suppose that the UK want graduates that think sensibly, to replace those in certain fields that can only think illogically. Politicians are the best example. Imagine a senior politician that can apply logic! Wow, Britain would be great again LOL Anyway, if you can't apply logic just talk a load of crap and look like you know what you are talking about, it works in all top jobs LOL

Well, logic is a good thing and frankly more people need a lot more of it.
But as a 100% necessary subject of study, I am not sure. I think that some majors should require a study of logic. However, the logic course was not approved as fulfilling any academic credit for engineering majors by my undergraduate university.

After a looooonnnnng post university career, it seems to me that one of the most difficult things in the world is for humans to confront reality and ask questions that will help solve a problem. I cite the number of useless questions involving "why". That is, "Why does my _____ abuse me" or cheat on me or not love me, or respect me etc. etc. etc. Should the questioner get an answer to the question, they are no closer to dealing with their problem. The same sort of thing goes on in investing. "Will the stock market go up or down?" Answering that question doesn't help in deciding whether a particular stock is a prudent investment.
To the extent that the study of logic may help us leave wishful or magical thinking to novels and daydreams and enable us to face facts, it would seem worthwhile.

No, it's not at all necessary, especially if you go into business, finance or government. It'll make you look bad, in fact. Like some useless, ninny intellectual.
