I have a TERRIBLE yeast infection. My doctors office (Lady doctor) is not opened until Monday (They're closed Thursday - Sunday!!)

I am taking anti-biotics for a sinus infection and thats what caused my yeast infection (It's happened before). Usually my doctor calls in some kind of pill for me to take (just one pill) and it prevents me from getting one.

I bought monostat, but it burns me. Whenever I've had a yeast infection Monostat and all those over the counter yeast treatments BURN and seem to make the discomfort worse.

I bought yogurt. If I eat enough yogurt during the day, could it possibly clear my yeast infection? I still have 4 more days of antibiotics to take.

STOP taking the antibiotic and get a different one. Macrobid gave me a yeast infection which indicated that I am allergic to the medication. You are probably allergic to whatever you are taking. Stop taking it before it harms you even more. Once you stop taking it, the yeast infection will go. If you can't use Monistat, then try Vagisil. If nothing works then try Eucerin or Curel for the itchiness. Keep eating yogurt cause that does work. Good Luck!

The only treatment for this is the Diflucan pill your Doctor gave you last time. If the Monostat hurts, do not use it again ! Yogurt can help prevent yeast infections, but not cure them. It's healthy, so treat yourself. Next time you get a Rx for antibiotics, ask for the Diflucan pill along with it. It will help, also, while you are taking antibiotics, to eat yogurt one or twice a day while on them will help prevent a yeast infection. I have been doing this for almost 45 years and I have only had one yeast infection, but that was because I didn't eat yogurt with them. Now, all you can do is call the Doctor, explain what is happening, and see if they can't call you in that pill. Never stop taking antibiotics until you have finished the full course. These are very important medications. In the mean time, to ease your discomfort, drink plenty of fluids, keep the area dry , try REAL hard not to scratch, you can also use a nice cool cloth down there to help the swelling and pain. Call the Dr, she will know what to do.,Its best to call the doctor that prescribed the medication.

I think it's important to try to relax, it will go away with treatment. I am a big proponent of acidophilus/lactobacilus--the healthy bacteria that protects your system from yeast infections. Even though a pharmacist will say that it's pointless to take them while you're on antibiotics, because the drugs will destroy them, you can pop a bunch a few hours after or before you take your dose--you cannot OD on them. Continue to take them for a while after you stop the antibiotics as well. Health food stores have the best selection and may likely steer you toward a good brand.

For the time being, you might check a health food store for something to help relieve pain until you see the MD. I saw an integrative physician once who had the nicest calendula suppositories--so soothing for yeast. You can also douche with yogurt. There are a lot of candida support websites around that may have suggestions.

Keep in mind also that certain foods may trigger yeast in certain women. For me it's wheat beer. Sugar can do it for a lot of people when their systems aren't in balance. I know it can be really frustrating. Best of luck to you!

The yogurt will help prevent a yeast infection, but probably not cure it. Keep eating it anyway. If you can not take any of the over the counter remedies, then you will need to see your doctor when she returns. Try to wear cotton only undies and go without them if possible! Yeast thrives in warm, moist places. Also, is it possible that another doctor on call could call in your medicine for you? Good luck.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment
