well if you know any thing cows have a tendency to fart what way would you face

Cows are not an independent animal, they follow the leader. I haven't really seen cows necessarily standing around all facing the same way, but when one moves the others go too.

They're all looking at something interesting in that general direction. Maybe a small furry mammal of some description.

They tend to face into the wind, as this is more comfortable for most furred and feathered animals.

They always keep the wind behind them,they also sit when it might rain that. way they have a dry patch to sit on.
