Exterior CD rom recorder (Freecom classic)?

I have a Mac G3 powerbook OSX
With a Freecom Classic CD Ext Recorder/player
Using TOAST 6 Titanum..... it worked fine, always coming up on the Toast window UNTILL 5 minutes ago..... suddenly it cant find the recorder..... I've tried rebooting the mac, disconecting/reconecting the power from the freecom/ disconecting the firewire conections........ Still wont find the recorder.
Ps I dont have the driver- disc from the Freecom as somebody gave it to me a year ago
Any bright Ideas ?
