They rely on social worker evaluations done away from the courtroom.

Normally small children are not brought into court when there is a divorce. There is no reason for this to happen.

The only time children might be brought into court would be when they are asking to live with a different parent and are at age to make a request. Then the judge might take them into his chambers and speak with them.

No - generally they have a social worker interview small children and come in and give their opinion. I would protest this and demand that a qualified psychiatrist be used as social workers are notorious for being opinionated liers and you may quote me to the judge on this. Social workers are egotistical idiots of the first order and go with the parent they like and not with the actual specifics of the children. They are not qualified to make this type of decision and I would sue their pants off.

depends on how bitter it is.

Is she accusing you of indescent behavior?
What State did the two of you reside in?
Drugs?
Alcohol?
Violence?
Child Support?

you need to give more details, but it would be smart to keep them to yourself.

no need to spill it all here on YA.

You should talk with a local family lawyer face to face.
(one that has an office near the courthouse you'll attened. Choose a Lawyer of the opposite sex than you. It can make for a shorter jury trial)

You probably won't get charged to see if they can help you and what your options are.

Shop around!!!

No. If you want the judge to speak with your children, you can tell your lawyer that and he can recommend that the judge speak to the children privately in his chambers with both lawyers present.
