Many years ago I was conducting a driving test at a test centre in Birmingham. The driver on test was driving correctly and at about 20 mph due to parked traffic. A boy of about 8-9 years of age run out from behind a parked van and despite the learners and my reactions we hit the boy. I felt completely sick as there seemed nothing we could have done to avoid the boy. The mother was nearby and had seen it happen, she and other witnesses put no blame on us but it still comes back in my mind after all these years. (39 years ago) In case you ask, the learners test was postponed to a later date and I don't know what happen to him after that. The boy was in hospital for a few days with a broken leg but luckily no more damage. What made the incident worse for us and the mother was that there was a pedestrian crossing about 50 yards further on and parents were waiting there.

I once wrote off two Ford Sierras!
The one I was driving & the one I hit!
Luckily no-one was badly hurt. When I went to the garage the next day to pick up my stuff from the car, the guy at the desk couldn't believe I was the driver of the wreck sitting in his yard. The car was shorter than the Fiesta it was sitting next to, the engine had broken off its mountings, & the gearstick, which had been in 3rd at the moment of impact was lying flat along the transmission tunnel. All 4 wheels were pointing in different directions. I had a slightly sore shoulder from the seatbelt, nothing more, my 2 passengers were fine, as was the other driver.
Talk about LUCKY!!

I avoid running over people at all costs... I have had other cars crash into mine. And then try to run away. Had to open there hood and pulling out there fuel pump relay until police arrived. He was on a suspended licence no insurance and warrants out for arrest.
