Hi all
I bought a new PC dual core and all the rest of it - I have 2 gigs RAM I can upgrade to 4 but I am wondering will it actually be utilised as I read somewhere that most games and such dont require 4 gigs yet so you could have 2 gigs sitting doing nothing!
any thoughts???

from what i understand, the maximum a 32 bit operating system can actually see is 4 GB (thats combined between the system ram,the memory on your video card, and whatever other memory you have) ..
with 2 gigs you should definately have no issues.. if you get into more hardcore stuff like large file and video editing.. you might want to consider bumping it up to 4..
but for the most part, you are correct.. that other 2 gigs would just sit around twiddling its virtual thumbs in most cases

2x512mb in dual channel mode is optimum for XP. 2x1Gb in dual channel mode is optimum for Vista. Beyond these, the law of diminishing return kicks in (and just kicks your wallet).

If you can get it go ahead, if you plan on keeping your machine more than a couple years, you'll need it. More is better when it comes to ram.

All depend on you mother board. How much memory it supports. it will be betterment for your systerm to work faster. So 4GB wil be better faster and stable for you system.
