A thorough physical exam and a series of tests may be required to diagnose Crohn's disease.
1. Blood tests may be done to check for anemia, which could indicate bleeding in the intestines.
2.Blood tests may also uncover a high white blood cell count, which is a sign of inflammation somewhere in the body.
3.By testing a stool sample, the doctor can tell if there is bleeding or infection in the intestines.
4.The doctor may do an upper GI series to look at the small intestine. For this test, the person drinks barium, before x rays are taken. The barium shows up white on x-ray film, revealing inflammation or other abnormalities in the intestine.
5. If these tests show Crohn's disease, more x rays of both the upper and lower digestive tract may be necessary to see how much of the GI tract is affected by the disease.
6. The doctor may also do a visual exam of the colon by performing either a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy. A sigmoidoscopy allows the doctor to examine the lining of the lower part of the large intestine, while a colonoscopy allows the doctor to examine the lining of the entire large intestine. The doctor will be able to see any inflammation or bleeding during either of these exams, although a colonoscopy is usually a better test because the doctor can see the entire large intestine.
7. The doctor may also do a biopsy, which involves taking a sample of tissue from the lining of the intestine to view with a microscope.

My Crohn's Disease was diagnosed during exploratory surgery undergone to see why I was vomiting and in such pain. Fortunately, there are other ways to be diagnosed.
You could have an entercolysis test done. They feed a small tube up your nostril, and then into your small intestine. They then put barium in through the tube and do a series of x-rays.
Another test is the small bowel follow-through, where you drink the barium (Trust me on this: get banana flavored and not berry flavored barium, if you get a choice!). They then do a series of x-rays.
A colonoscopy or sigmoidoscope could be useful to look at the large intestine, but that won't show disease in the small intestine or elsewhere in the digestive tract.
While they were trying to figure out what was wrong with me, I had an endoscope done, which is down the throat. This is useful to see the upper digestive system, but doesn't show anything about the intestines.
Good luck with finding out whether or not you have this disease. It's not a death sentence, it's a diagnosis. Once you know what it is, you can take steps to treat it and get it under control

I'm not sure if there is a 100% test. I went to GP with pains etc and after a few months he referred me to hosp. The consultant had a good feel of my stomach area and chat about symptonms and I had a Barium meal which confirmed I had Chron's Disease. I then had to go for a colonoscopy so they could have a proper look at how badly diseased and how large an area was effected, plus they took some biopsies too.

I actual have hads crohns for kind of 5 years now. absolutely everyone reacts in astonishing techniques to astonishing nutrients, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that throughout the time of my view for me it somewhat is somewhat 'wet' nutrients, corresponding to a roast dinner with gravy, or soup, or spaghetti bolognaise - assume any nutrients that would make a terrible mess if a plate of it have been dropped - thats me. this would possibly not (or won't) undertaking you, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that a word to contemplate while you're older is ALCOHOL - no properly for you. it somewhat is this kind of shame having a sickness like this, i used to be merely over a 365 days older than you at the instant are while you have been pointed out. I oftentimes do no longer enable it impact me/my custom as much as i ought to, I inspite of the incontrovertible fact that consume and drink what I wish every time I wish, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that sense me usually it does now no longer look worth it! In time, you are going to return to realize which nutrients are properly for you in my view and that are no longer. attempt to maintain a diary or regardless of, I did!
