That happened to me once. I wasn't happy and told the guy he was a racist idiot (well, shouted at him actually) He got the message though!

I'd ignore the insult and not react in any way except maybe to roll my eyes. The person who made the insult did it to get a reaction so don't give them one. Tell yourself the person who made the insult is a moron or something like that and get over it. It will make you the better person.

Ignore them. Don't bother pointing out the faults in theirs, you are just lowering yourself to their level.

I casually mention that their country is something we scrap off the bottom of our shoe before going into the house.
