Maybe its because they discovered that they would make more money on their own than in a group. This is because if you are in a group things have to be split and everyone has to agree to everything in order for something to take place. However if you are on your own you can do things the way you want to.
Also if you are in a group there is always the danger that you will not stand out as much as the others, especially if you are not the lead singer. If your out there on your own this will not happen

Seems like most women in general have their differences. Girl groups had egos that operated on a different level as well. The dream of individual success drives some people completely driven to climb to the top on their own.

These days, the market is 'in' for solo artists, especially the R&B genre. Anyway, groups and bands usually don't last long because they tend to spilt to pursue solo careers. And when they get a paycheck it has to be divided by about... four or five people.
I'm not saying being in a band is bad, just that solo artists earn more and usually last longer.

Great question...I sat down just reminiscent of the 'ole skool' r&b tunes my best friend & I listened to back in our younger days of college, that's when music really had soul and meaning. Guess most of the groups had just split up, went bankrupt, started own careers.

Because women are catty so most of the girl groups (especially the ones you named) break up because they can't seem to get along

They grew up.
There just isn't a market for them right now. Don't worry, the trend will come back.

That's a good point, maybe they don't think there's much of a market for them at the moment.
