I'm a 20 year old male. For the past week I've been feeling very tired all the time; even 2 hours after I first wake up from a long nap. I'm always having a dry feel to my eyes. It's very weird, I feel alert but in another way I feel drained.

I have taken some drug store brand sinus pills to see if it was a sinus issue but it doesn't seem to help much.

Could this be an issue with my thyroid gland? My mother had a problem with hers a few years ago. If so what I have to possibly get done?

I don't exercise much. I just go for short walks now & then and do some sit-ups each day. Not enough to make me tired like this. Please help.

PS: I have also tried something similar to that "nose-vade" that Dr. Oz showed on the "Oprah Show" that clears out sinuses with warm water and household salt. It help a little but not much.

Nadia's answer is a possiblity, thyroid problems can be hereditary, but dry eyes? Ask someone to look at you when you sleep and let you know if your eyes close all the way, that'll do that too, and honestly, my sister had same symtoms (except dry eyes) go to the doctor, not only will blood work detect any thyroid issue but have her look for mono as well, that's what ended up being wrong w/her. Yeah you may not excersize enough, but I don't think that's it, I never excersize (I know I know) but I don't have sleep issues.

Tired Dry Eyes

if you're feeling lethargic it might be a lack of exercise. If you lead a relatively sedentary life, you'll feel tired all the time. Also really warm weather will usually make you drowsy.

About the thyroid problem, Hyper and Hypothyroid usually affects women. It's rare for men to inherit this problem from their moms. My mom has hyperthyroid so I've asked my doctor about it. It's rare but it's a possibility.

the dry eyes might be a result from some sort of allergy. Sinus pills usually make you even more drowsy.

My advice: Go see you Doctor. He can run some tests to see if its neurological or hormonal.
hope you feel better
