I have a 98 Contour SE and I think it has the factory alarm but I am not exactly sure as I am not the first owner of this car. It makes me use the keyless entry to disarm the alarm. Everytime I stick my key in the drivers door, it will unlock the door, but the alarm will immediately go off once I open the door. How can I stop it from doing this? I thought there was some trick that if you turned the key certain ways it would disarm the alarm but I am not sure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

As far as I can recall. the '98 Contour came (factory installed) with a Passive Anti-theft System & a Remote Keyless Entry w/panic button, but NOT an alarm.
Your vehicle may have an additional, Dealer installed alarm but that would not have been from the factory & would not be in your 'owners manual' .....
Speaking of which, I will gladly supply you with the link to download & save to your computer :

The factory system is discussed on pages 42-44

You should have a little remote deal with your key to turn the alarm off & then open the door, If not, take car to Ford dealership.
