Probably just misunderstood.

As a kid all those moons ago I grew up thinking that near automatically the wife of my dreams would be the first one I committed to. The 2.2 children would arrive after securing a semi-detached house while being in a job which I would be in for almost as long as I wanted, driving a nice car (possibly a company car). My parents would always be together and life would be just peachy.

I now think kids are more aware of the realities of life (from the internet, Tv, etc.) and maybe more rebel against the real life that awaits them and may even try to be as those they idolise in order to try and break away from that which they feel is drudgery.

In many ways youth is misunderstood. Often through their own fault.
Three boys equals trouble but is a natural unit .
I am told by veterans in the British army that the advice is get two good friends and stick with them through thick and thin.

A Scout (as in Baden Powell) patrol consists of six boys
including a patrol leader (PL0 and an assistan (APL)
this uses the natural unit

i wouldn't say misunderstood..we need to blame the media, music, movies, for what is happening to our young. They think it's just plain normal to wear no clothing...walk around the stores in bikini's ..because it's hot outside. Treat each other wrong...many shows on t.v. do the exact thing...show little rich girls being snobs to the less fortunate. They have teens getting preg..on television, and making them belive...it's tough...but it's okay. Sell some drugs on the corner...then make a hit record.
Get implants and become famous...wear a whole lotta make up ...and you'll be beautiful. We don't miss understand them...we are just trying to teach and show them...they are better than all that...and don't need any of it... When was the first time you heard a teen shooting up the school...I am sure it has been in this lasty decade.
We older people are not old fashion...just have morals...for ourselves , and would like to distill some in our younger generations....

The youth of today are little different from the youth of any age.

The adult population doesn't recognise the important of children and youths and never has.

It is both mentally and emotionally stressful and hard work to bring children up, and by the time they get to teenagers most parents are needing break from them. But society is not geared to teach young people and bring them on to adulthood, so a lot of them are left to find out things for themselves. Which is when the problems start!!

As a teacher I would say we tarnish them all with the same brush..... Yes there are some yobs and rude youngsters but there are also some fantastic young people who, with the correct guidance and belief in them, can go on to be happy and stable adults.

A lot of them are just yobs. However I hate the fact that people generalise and say we are all yobs and trouble makers.

I think its a bit of both. there are those who are misunderstood, because they fit in the category of being a teenager and they are perceived as deviant, and they are those who hang around street corners, drink cheap alcohol, smoke illegal drugs and terrorise the neighbourhood and those are yobs and they give innocent teenagers a bad name.
