My friend is not very happy at the moment.
Her father drinks a lot, and the other night he attacked her sister during an argument. If I was her, i would be really upset. I think she is, but all my other firned think that she has no reason to be so "depressed", because she wasnt the one attacked.

What are your opinions?

If you witnessed your sister in such danger, would YOU be affected by it afterwards?

I know i would..

"attacked" her sister, you mean like, HIT her? Beat her up? That girl needs to tell someone. Sounds like their Dad needs to go to rehab. YOu should never "Attack" your child. Bottom line. This guy needs either rehab or jail time. A kid should not have to live in fear of getting beat by a parent.

Dear myribbonisblue,
It absolutely is abuse and domestic violence. Any time a person is physically or mentally abuse it is a crime. It never matters what is said, you never lay hands on another person.
But we are living in a world where more and more people are using thier fists or a weapon to solve problems instead of words. Your friend and her sister are in a very bad situation.
My Dad Was an abusive man when he drank it it made our lives hell. Thier family needs to do something before something tragic happens. They need to get thier Mom and other family members involved. Maybe seek an intervention, or press charges so thier Dad can get the help he needs. I would contact a school counselor and start there. No one should have to live with that kind of behavior. This is not something they can handle alone.

i suffered domestic violence for years off my partner, but you know what, its the emotional side of it that hurts more than the attack,so yes i agree your friend should be upset.nobody has to put up with that kind of thing.there is ways out of it,ive been out of it for 2 years now,and its the best thing i ever done,im making it on my own,and am very happy.there are numbers you can phone about it,and help can be provided.it should be reported.
the only thing you can do ,is be there for your friend as and when she needs you,for support and a shoulder to cry on when she needs it.its very hard thing to go through alone,be there.x
