I may have a muscle tear in my pelvic area. Can a muscle tear in your pelvic area cause pain with intercourse and painful periods?

I've already seen my usual doctor. This has been going on for 4 and 1/2 months now and my usual doctor does infact think it could be endometriosis. I'm seeing a gyneacologist on 17 August - my doctor said that the gyno will probably end up doing a laparoscopy to find out whether I have endo. My doctor just refered me to a physio recently just to make sure it wasn't a muscle tear but the physio also said that I should get checked by the gyno first before saying it's just a muscle tear.

I didn't think that a muscle tear could've been sore for this long..... and I have had pretty painful and intense period cramps for probably the last year now and it's only gotten worse each month. I've been having more pain with intercourse too. I also have this feeling of having a full bladder all the time and the pain is just unbearable at times.

I'm 26, married but don't have any kids yet. My mom also had endometriosis when she was in her 20's.

It's very possible, but when I was having problems with pain with my periods before I knew I had endometriosis I had symptoms that made me feel like I pulled a muscle inside because no matter which position I got in I couldn't get comfortable.

I would recommend getting in touch with a gynecologist about this issue to see what they think is going on.

If your insurance requires it please start with your primary care physician first.

As the other folks already pointed out, endometriosis is a possibility that you should check into.

That said, yes, it's possible to tear any of the several muscles that form the pelvic diaphragm. This group of muscles supports the organs of the pelvis (vagina, uterus, bladder, ovaries, and rectum). The muscles can be torn as a result of sexual intercourse or as the result of unusually high intra-abdominal pressure. Both are quite rare, but possible.

Unfortunately, this is extremely difficult to diagnose. The muscles are too small and thin to image well in MRI scans, and really aren't palpable. Diagnosis usually involves first ruling out endometriosis, and the diagnosis is usually a guess, though occasionally can be backed-up by palpation (applying pressure to the area to pin-point the source of pain).

Treatment is the same for any torn muscle... stay off of it for awhile, and when you do use it, do so carefully. Most importantly, be sure to be evaluated for endometriosis right away.

From what you have told I feel you would probably have endometriosis. You need to undergo diagnostic laproscopy for confirmation. It is a medical condition, it can be cured with drugs. As soon as you start yrself on medicines yr chances of pregnancy is bright.
