I am a REALLY HUGE FAN of fantasy books and movies so I bought some things...: The rings of Gandalf, Elrond,Galadriel,Aragorn and The One Ring. Glamdrig the sword of Gandalf, Sting the sword of Frodo, Anduril the sword of Aragorn, The helmet and the hand of Sauron, the Staff of Saruman, The bow of Legolas, The swords of Drizzt Do Urden Icingdeath and Twinkle, Galbatorix's and Eragon's swords, Heron Mark Sword from the Wheel of Time and Highlanders Dragon Katana sword. It cost really a lot of money, believe me you don't want to know how much. I'm very proud that I have them and now I'm going to put them in a special room which is filled with posters and books of fantasy in the place they deserve to be. But something inside me tells me that I have overdone it. Did I?

I think everyone should have something that they collect. It helps define the person. Now, unless you put yourself in debt or caused some sort of financial problems because of this, then I think it's awesome you have all this stuff.

You're not talking about books, you're talking about supposed souveniers from those stories. Unfortunately, you did not buy the "Rings of Gandalf", you just bought what someone said was the Ring of Gandalf, or, more precisely, "looked like" what you would expect the Ring of Gandalf to look like, and probably paid a ridiculous price for it.
Such is the price of fandom. And so, probably, yes, you overdid it. If you're okay with it, then enjoy. But it sounds like you, or someone near you, is questioning it. What does "a lot of money" mean? Money you couldn't afford to spend on items like this? If so, then, yeah, you probably overdid it.

Its ok my brother is a sword and WW2 addict so anything he sees based around it he drools over...hell for his birthday I spent 200 dollars on him for the original book of Mine Komf!(he is not a nazi he is just fascinated by the history)
Though I must admit that I like my brother find that period fascinating and probably bought that book for him as well as me. lol but my point is that it is best to do it over time. Or else it will make you tight on money. THank god I have parents or else my brother and I would be hobos for our spends between guitars and instruments and WW2 memorbilia and books.

Only you can answer that yourself. If you like that genre and it makes you happy in buying those items then go ahead and buy more and display them. You said your proud of them so no, I don't think you've over done it, I collect model cars and I keep buying. Good luck with your room.

I think a LOT of people can understand, that's what being a FAN is called! :-) Don't listen to what anybody says, people have always ridiculed my 'obsessions' but I've never let anyone stop me.
I'd love to see your room by the way!
