As strange as it might seem, I'd regard Hydrogen, which although possessing metallic properties isn't really a metal, to be the most important!

I am not certain that it is Metal as you and I understand metals, geologically speaking I guess it is a mineral.
Lead and Gold
Tuff to choose, lead has shielding properties as well as gold does, but makes a better sinker for a fishing pole.

iron = used in construction
iron can be formed into many things like steel if u add it wid other metals etc.
