Batman Begins is a lot better than the four previous Tim Burton and Joel Shumacher movies. Although Burton's movies were great, there were moments that did not fit well with me. Mostly due to the fact that Batman had no remorse for killing his enemies. The Batman people know took a vow to never take a life. Joel Shumacher turned Batman into a joke when it wasn't meant to. I like Batman Forever but Batman & Robin was terrible, plain and simple. There's several reasons why Batman Begins greatly surpasses the previous four movies.

One is that it focuses mostly on how Bruce Wayne came to be Batman. The previous four was more about how the villians came to be and not too much story was given to Bruce or Batman. In Begins, you get an understanding of what led up to Bruce donning the suit. What's even better was they shows how Bruce trained to be Batman and what he did for the seven years he was away from Gotham City.

The 1989 Batman had Joker ask the question "Where does he get all those wonderful toys?" The answer is given with a real world purpose. The suit, weapons, and Tumbler was designed for the military and supplied by Wayne Tech's Applied Science Division.

Everything that Batman is was grounded in realism which is probably the best and only way in telling a story about Batman. It's about a man determined and obsessed with stopping crime. It was great that David Goyer and Christopher Nolan took their time introducing Batman and focused on how driven Bruce was.

There was nothing campy or outrageousness did not exist in Nolan's world. I loved how he stressed realism and made sure that we were immersed in a world that we could almost see happen.

Batman Begins is my absolute favorite movie of all time. I would honestly recommend it even to the most casual Batman fan. There's something in it for everyone. Christopher Nolan's next sequel The Dark Knight is going to be released July 18, 2008 so you can be sure I will be there opening day watching it.

The Tim Burton directed Batman movies were good but Batman Begins is fantastic. It's a more grown up version but older kids can enjoy it too. Batman Forever was okay and don't even bother looking at Batman and Robin - yikes!
If you were to watch only one Batman movie, choose Batman Begins.

batman begins is the best batman movie ive seen! christopher nolan did a good job making sure the movie remained as close to reality as possible (ie. all of the gadgets were based on current technology - nothing too fancy). as for the other batman movies, the ones from tim burton were ok, but batman 3 & 4 were way too outlandish. and need i mention those freakin' nipples?!

Batman begins is the best Batman movie to date- it captures the "dark knight" persona better than any of the previous movies. It presented Batman as relentless and driven, and allowed us to see the development of the Batcave and Batarangs as the newborn crimefighter refined his tools and techniques.

I especially liked how they worked other characters from the Batman universe into the plot, such as Lucius Fox, and the relationship with Ras Al Ghul.

My 2nd favorite Batman movie is the original with Jack's timeless performance as the Joker. After that, it's all downhill...
