Changed music forever
...Anybody that says they're pop tripe has obviously never heard Come Together, Revolution, Because, Day In The Life, Lucy In The Sky or Sgt Pepper and base their conclusions on the early, rock 'n' roll at the time - poppish sounding now - material like Love Me Do etc etc. Almost every decent guitar based band today will list the Beatles among their influences, and those that don't will list others that do. Nobody holding a guitar, that's in a decent band, will be more than 2 degrees away from the Beatles and for that reason they have changed music forever.
There's a reason people say, "the best band since the Beatles" y'know... it's not hype or overrating, they actually have made such an impact, culturally and more importantly... musically. How many bands used riffs before they came along? How many bands played melodious yet fast rock 'n' roll? How many used their words to strike change?... The world of music owes a lot to Lennon... and OK, to Paul as well.
Oh, and the Rolling Stones... better?... OK... that's why they've been making the same sounding music for 40 years without any change. "Copy and paste", anybody?

Pure musical genius.
There a lot of people on here who obviously have never really listened to The Beatles and don't appreciate the impact that they had, not only on music, but popular culture as a whole. Every pop musician of today owes a great deal to The Beatles whether they are aware of it or not. Ignorance is no defence!
