Salam ... what is potential energy.. is that not stored energy.....what kind of storage device was used in the BIG BANG! I really need to show this proof cause it proves all those against the book of Allah dead wrong, and shows that humans are humans and everyday we learn more and more and more.. salam
HE NEVER SAID QURAN OR BIBLE OR ANY SCRIPTURE OH ASSUMING ONES!
SO IF I SAY 1428 YEARS YOU THINK MUHAMMED SAW AND QURAN... THAT IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT THEN KEEP THINKING THAT

OK, just to clarify something (since some posters are giving misleading answers):
The concept that energy cannot be created nor destroyed is from Newtonian physics.
The concept that mass can be converted to energy and vice versa is from the theory of relativity. You can think of that as Einsteinian physics, but it is definitely different from Newtonian physics. In effect, though, this is how you "destroy energy" -- turn it into mass. It's kind of an atomic bomb in reverse.
As for the suggestion that the Quran anticipates E = mc²: whoa, new one on me. I'll bet with a little imagination we can find a Biblical passage that does it also.

This very much depends on exactly how you define things. If you take two protons that are moving very fast, and so have a lot of kinetic energy, the collision can convert this kinetic energy into other particles: more protons, anti-protons, mesons, etc. If, however, you include the energy of the masses involved, the total energy is not changed. There is a law of conservation of mass-energy.

Well if energy can't be created or destroyed, this blows away the idea of a finite universe.
It also reinforces the idea that a primordial egg, sitting some where, suddenly exploded producing an infinite universe, containing all the ingredients that we experience in our universe,to-day.

Energy can be neither CREATED nor DESTROYED.
If we think carefully we realize that energy is never created (made) or destroyed.
Whenever something works energy does not vanish but it is converted from one form into another.
It is converted from one type to another. Even matter has energy, this is the basis of nuclear energy.
It can only be changed from one form to another.
Law of Conservation of Mass states that matter is neither created nor destroyed.

When they exploded the atom in an underground facility in America, the scientists found two black orbs of energy not in the original model of the atom. They believe that this unknown source of power is really what holds all things together.
Take it away, and energy becomes nothing,

Energy is subject to the law of conservation of energy. According to this law, energy can neither be created (produced) nor destroyed itself. It can only be transformed.

There's nothing in the Quran about the mass-energy relation (E = m*c^2). It simply had not been discovered by anyone until Albert Einstein found it.
Your crusade to prove that all science comes from the Quran is ridiculous.

Take your Islamic creationism to the Fiction section!
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. Study the Laws of Thermodynamics.
Disclaimer: I would say the same about Biblical creationism, so don't take it so personally.
