First off getting rid of 'tribal mythology' won't stop world wars. many people say that oil, money resources etc are also reasons for war. So to stop war we would also have to stop using any resource that the Earth provides, including land.
The greatest reason for war is power, people want it and people who have it don't want to give it up.

The causes of World War I, which began in central Europe in July 1914, included many intertwined factors, such as the conflicts and hostility of the four decades leading up to the war. Militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism played major roles in the conflict as well. However, the immediate origins of the war lay in the decisions taken by statesmen and generals during the July Crisis of 1914, casus belli for which was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife by Gavrilo Princip, an irredentist Serb.[1] The crisis came after a long and difficult series of diplomatic clashes between the Great Powers (Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, Austria-Hungarian Empire and Russia) over European and colonial issues in the decade before 1914 that had left tensions high. In turn these diplomatic clashes can be traced to changes in the balance of power in Europe since 1867.[2] The more immediate cause for the war was tensions over territory in the Balkans. Austria-Hungary competed with Serbia and Russia for territory and influence in the region and they pulled the rest of the Great Powers into the conflict through their various alliances and treaties. The topic of the causes of World War I is one of the most studied in all of world history. Scholars have differed significantly in their interpretations of the event.

Because it really has nothing to do with your god against my god. All 3 major religions today worship(and for the past 1400 years) the same God, just differing interruptions of how that god is to be worshiped. And there is lies the rub. The leaders want the masses to interrupt the word of their God as they themselves perceive it should be death with. Then they use this self proclaimed god imagine of themselves to advance their own agenda and power.
Moving the masses is not so tricky as it seems, all one needs to do is convince the whole (masses) that there is another whole group of people that would destroy not just them but their God, (the masses are extremely gullible) and that my man is a mans belief right or wrong, his belief in life and beyond and when you try to take his belief he will do anything include follow the leader into hell if necessary to save his God honor. ( And with that one man, one group of people can move millions to wars and do anything for the leader that understands how to do save his God and thus his eternal soul).
Not hard, can you say Darfur genocide?

We do have a prominent President of a nation that believe he must cause crises so his "thirteenth Imam" may climb out of his well where he has been hiding for hundreds of years. It is interesting to me how people ignore those sorts of fables and focus on "fables" of Christianity. I guess it is easier to trash Christians rather than those that are actively stating that they will attempt to create chaos. I don't follow any book but science books but really resent the PC crowd that wants to treat everyone as the same.

Tribal Mythology in itself may have caused wars in the
distant past but the Tribes can't afford the cost of
modern wars. However----
T.M. is used often as an excuse to start wars in the
modern world by the Powers that be ---like the "Pre-
emptive" one that is going on right now in Iraq.!
Cute modern Terminology is an aide used to
incite the "Patriots" eager to pose as defenders
of their country. "DOMINO EFFECT"----THREATS
TO OUR WAY OF LIFE"-----"DANGER OF COMMUNISM-"--
and now the latest and best "WMDs"----Whooie !
Topping that with the latest---"TERRORISTS"--
really makes one shudder !---good thing we have
"HOMELAND SECURITY"----even if it is monitored
daily by them bad Terrorists !
TRIBAL MYTHOLOGY exists of course as in the hatred
of the Shiites for the Sunnis (which has existed in
Iran/Iraq for 2 centuries since the myth of Ali (the
Son-in-Law of Mohammed the Prophet) ----Ali
was a Shiite and supposedly some Bad-Guy
Sunnis Ambushed and killed him in the Desert
long long ago !!!
A TM like that might be good enough for a Tribal War---
but it won't cut it with us sophisticated peasants---
brought up watching Star Wars and Power Rangers---
Gotta have a good Slogan ----like "SUPERDOOPER
NUKES"----!!!!
Anyhow it won't matter ----most of will die because
we can't afford Health Care or Prescription Drugs !!

Tribal mythology is all most people have -- and the ones that have gone beyond that have merely substituted tribal (partisan) politics. But the mindset is the same.
So, the only way we can stop wars is to learn how to tolerate each other's mythology and politics -- rather than attacking others merely because we disagree with them.

your unbelief is of no concern to a believer. There have always been wars, and alway be. Get used to the fact that you can do nothing about it.

Christians are equally, if not more responsible than Muslims for the stunted progress of modern civilization, and it is slowly heading back downhill.
Christianity itself is not bad, it's just its adherents.
