This so reminds me of "Sneetches" by Dr. Seuss. Where the star bellied Sneetches felt they were the far superior to the ones "without stars upon thars."
I somehow feel that the people with long lasting expiration dates will somehow be the more confident set and will find a way to demean those with shorter dates until they feel that they don't have the time to accomplish what others can and would tend to give up more easily. I think there would be a whole psychology behind the date.... and the length. Social groups would be formed around dates and government jobs would be determined by expiration. It almost seems.... communistic.
I'm shuddering at the thought. I think I would much prefer to be a sneetch with no star. *sigh*

We would have another BIG issue to feel jealous of others who have a longer life inscribed on them and blame God for the injustice!! As to how we handle our own life, well, we are used to managing deadlines and this one would just be the BIGGEST of them all....... some of us would plan our lives better and others would just keep postponing things till the last moment to rue the precious time gone by.

Actually no different, we all have a time-line to live by. I believe that our life path is already set in stone before we our ever born. I think that our fate is already known and mapped out for us, its all about choices that we make along the way.

I don't know how it would be for everyone else, but I would probably still procrastinate and then wish I would have done things differently in the end. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

those are only the dates when a product is last to be sold as fresh. you can still eat it a couple of days later if you refrigerated after opening.
