From MN...know the area...but i've been wondering that since it happened

I am about 5 minutes from it. Its not too deep, but it is very wide, very dark, and there was a strong current before they turned off the falls. So, not deep, but dangerous.

I'm for Mpls too. Grew up swimming in most of the river around Mpls. under the bridges they keep it dredged for the barges though. I would guess 25 feet in the middle for the barges but, From the power company on the North side all the way to Mpls and where this happen, My guess is a mean depth of maybe ten feet, maybe less.
We had a monkey rope under two bridges and would swing out, hit bottom pretty hard sometimes. I saw at least twenty people pulled out of that river that drowned.
Fished it all my young life.

The dredgers actually try to keep it around nine feet in that area. With the recent drought, there may have been a small blessing in disguise.
