Bush said they had WMD, which we found out they did not. The result of us going in, a despotic leader was removed from power which is not a bad thing. The reason we are still there is so anarchy does not run wild, but that may be difficult to stop with the mindset of the people there.

Long term contracts to develop the easy to get and cheap to develop oil in Iraq for Exxon and Mobil, plus hegemony in the Middle East Oil region. We now have military bases from Egypt to Israel to Saudi Arabia, Quatar, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. It is saturation "gunboat" foreign policy.

wmd: "weapons of mass destruction." bush admin. claimed saddam had them. said nigerian uranium had been bought covertly to build them. was all bulls**t, as it turned out. the real reason has more to do with establishing a base of ops in an oil producing region of the mideast (cheney's reason) and the fact that saddam had once planned to assasinate bush senior (baby bush's reason). your tax dollars at work.

i think he was after saddam, not because of his now nonexistant "connections" to al Qaeda, but because there was a grudge or sumthin. 9/11 just gave him an excuse to get there.
