Well, during my battle with Azelf I ran out of poke balls so I ran away or got killed. When I got back to the cave, it was gone. I really wanted to catch but I know for sure that I didn't kill him. What to do now?

this is why you save b4 an event...once you lose u cant ever fight it back...or once you kill it you cant fight it again... anyways...azelf sux if that makes you feel any better =/

If you run or kill it (haven't tried losing) you will lose you only chance to catch any legendary, as long as they are not programmed to run away like the dogs, mesprit, cresselia, latios/latias.
Sorry, but you can't catch Azelf now.

It should either be let loose and you have to chase it. I have Mespirt but if you give me enough time I'll catch Azelf for you and trade it.

thats not true azaleaf will return even if you kill it but only if the game said " azaleaf dissapeard deep in to the cave" so wait like 10 days he should be there

sry but after it killed u or u ran out of pokeballs.. its will run away into the wild.. u will hae to use ur poketech to find it.. good luck anyway :)
