Easy. If there always there for you through whatever goes down, whether good or bad. A bestfriend is someone who will be there for you through the most difficult times in your life..without even asking them too. If that person is with you through whatever, gives you advice when you have problems, lends a shoulder to cry on, if you both share the same interests, do lots of things together, shows you the good and bad..and the right and wrong..then that person is your "Bestfriend".
This is one of my favorite "bestfriend" quotes.. "A Best friend is someone who you can sit with, not say a word, and then leave feeling it was the best conversation you ever had."
I'm sure you can be able to sence whether your bestfriend is really a bestfriend, just by the things they do or say to you, and if you feel that you can TRUST them with anything, then that's your bestfriend. =)

Look at the time you spend with each other, the things you do for each other. Check how you feel for this person and how this person feels about you. Best friends are hard to come by, and it is possible to loose someone as a best friend. Just Ask this person. Good Luck

a best friend is someone who will make you a better person.

not influence/force you to do bad things.

she (lets make the friend a girl) would give you advice when you ask for it or when you need it.

she will not lie to you just to make you feel better.

she would always have your best intentions at heart.

she will not use you nor allow you to be used by others.

she will be protective of you.

she will defend you against others when she knows you're right and counsel you when you are wrong.

she will love you just for being you, not because of who you are or what you have.

the only time she will come between you and your BF is when she SURELY KNOWS (not just presumes) that he would or have hurt you

the three things best friends should have between them are love, honesty and trust. everything else is incidental

hope you get to know who your best friend is.

If you trust them and trully enjoy hanging out with them then you have a good start. They have to be someone you can have good days and bad days with and still want to do it all again the next day.

That doesn't matter--it is just words--friends are there for each other and know how to mind their business and treat each other with respect. Friends do not lend or borrow money. friends don't lie to each other. Friends don't test each other either.

hmm depends on the situation -- if u two had a rift it may be for ther time being -- if it is you who always tries to make peace then talk to him/her about it --- if ur friend is there when u need em [except when busy] , if there is a proper understanding etc etc etc ....

when that bestfriend is with you through thick and thin, thru good and bad times, when he is there for you in times on need, when he accepts you as you are no matter how imperfect you can be.

You don't. It is kind of a blind faith till the friendship faces the right test. that right test is different for every one.
