Do you breathe more shallow ...or

Just breath normal and don't put your face by the insertion point. The fumes will only cause brain damage if you're using gasoline inappropriately.

When filling your car, there are safety mechanisms in place to prevent the release of fumes, because it's the fumes that make gasoline combustible. You can put a lit match into gasoline and nothing will happen (if you can think of a way to get it there with out it igniting the fumes). See the link below for the Material Safety Data Sheet for Unleaded Gasoline.

My husband was the 'head mechanic' and I did the books at several gas stations. We breathed 'normally' ... and since both of us had extremely high IQs and still have extremely high IQs, I think it's 'safe' to say that you can NOT get brain damage while getting your gas at a gas station. May I suggest you may want to see a 'mental health professional' for an evaluation ... you may have a bad 'anxiety disorder' to make you so 'afraid' of the fumes in a gas station.

Personally, I just breathe normally. Sounds like you have some type of phobia. In this day and age, OSHA and EPA wouldn't allow self-service gas stations to operate, if they thought they were dangerous to the consumer. If you are *really* concerned about this, talk with you family doctor and/or find a gas station where the station employee will pump your gas. Such gas stations are a little hard to find; but some still exist. Just be prepared to pay more per gallon of gas if they pump it for you.

Either way the fumes will get into your system.
I just breath normally because it's better to have a good supply of oxygen with the fumes rather than having a low supply of oxygen and having more fumes over power it.

Does that even make any sense? lol

You have nothing to worry about. Something else damaged your brain a long time ago. A small amount of gas fumes will not hurt you. It's the people who sit in a room sniffing the can who kill their brains.

You're a wealthy singer, relax and enjoy the moment. Or, have you gone that bankrupt already?
