I think that was the longest run-on sentence in history. But seriously man, I don't know. The rich get richer, but A-Rod isn't what I'd define as making a team wealthier. He'd be an awkward fit for any club, even the Red Sox. And he may not even opt out of his contract. I think he'd do well in the Angels system, just because they've won because of youth for so long, and having Vlad and A-Rod bat back to back...oh man. Sorry. I was salivating at the thought. As are the Angels, I'm sure.

The Red Sox probably could afford ARod if Schilling really does retire, but part of the deal would then be the fact that Lowell's contract will end after the season, so they would also probably be looking at ARod as a third baseman. ARod will make more than Lowell+Schilling, but not by very much, and the Sox could take that payroll hit.

I don't think that any personal bad feelings between players would be relevant. These guys are all professionals, and they'd get over it pretty quickly. I don't think there really was anything personal in that fight between Varitek and ARod. Varitek knew the Sox needed something like that to get themselves back into focus - I don't think he hates ARod at all.

This all said, I think it will be back to New York for ARod, unless he absolutely doesn't want to stay there. The Yankees just can't replace his bat, so they'll pay what it takes to keep him. They didn't trade for Betemit so they could play him at 3rd next year, unless the idea is that they will ask ARod to play centerfield.

What do I think? I think your keyboard is missing the period button.

I dont see A-rod going to the bo sox. Even though they can afford him and they've been reading from the "How to Win Games The Steinbrenner Way" handbook, I think he's headed out west. He fits with the Angels, but the Angels dont want his price tag. I think the dark horse in the A-rod race [the Giants] will come out victorious.
The Giants have sold out virtually every home game since they moved to the new stadium, and in large part it was due to Barry Bonds. Once Bonds hangs 'em up, they are going to need another big ticket draw and they have their answer in A-Rod. They know that he is the key to the baseball future and I honestly think that they'll make it an interesting off-season, should A-Rod opt out. This means that they'll have to do some house cleaning this winter, but if you look closely, I think the table is being set for Bonds/Rodriguez 2008. Everyone who says that the Giants dont have the money for a deal like this also said the same thing about Zito last year and Bonds in '92...and in both cases the Giants made them the highest paid in history.

Varitek did no longer even win that combat with Arod. He tried to take Arod down and ought to no longer. Arod is plenty larger than Varitek and regardless of Varitek's teammates helping Varitek, he replaced into no longer able to take Arod down. humorous that they have the comparable agent, Scott Boras. Varitek somewhat hates Arod. I made a humorous tale approximately Arod to Varitek at a gathering merely final 365 days, thinking that truly the animosity replaced into long previous on the grounds that they performed interior the WBC mutually. Varitek went on a tirade approximately how plenty he could no longer stand Arod. it would be interesting by way of fact Manny/Ortiz and Arod are solid acquaintances, I say the crimson Sox have extra of of undertaking to sign Arod than the Yankees if he opts out. merely by way of timing. The Sox lose maximum of their super albatross contracts this 365 days, whilst the Yanks lose theirs after the 2008 season. Any time that gets Arod will pay too plenty. he's an mind-blowing ballplayer, yet he remains merely one guy.

Angels, Dodgers, Cubs more likely, but going to the Red Sox is not impossible. The Red Sox must have heard from Dodger fans what a stiff J D Drew is but they insisted on forcing him to take $70 million for 5 years of alternating between the DL and hitting .250.

Gay-Rod in a Red Sox uniform? No way in HELL!!!!! I'm a Sox fan and do not want to see him playing SS or 3rd for Boston. I think he still has too many enemies from the 2004 ALCS. I think he gained another enemy in Pedroia with that cheap shot slide into 2nd base. I have some friends that are Sox fans like myself and don't want to see him in a Boston uniform. Plus how many Red Sox fans want to put up with the disappearing act his bat and glove every year around playoff time?? I don't know of any that want to put up with that. We know they're rumors but the rumors started in NY papers not Boston.

Check you're spelling.

First of all last year the Cubs spent over over 51 million dollars on Dice K Matzusaka then over 11 million on J.D. Drews contract.

So once again the olny team that can afford A-Rods unusually high contract will be the Yankees.

P.S. He wont go to the Cubs. The Cubs dont have the money.

*Hint Hint* Alfanso Soriano.

Nah, the Red Sox spent too much money already. Plus such a move would REALLY alienate the loyal Red Sox fan base.

No he won't. Red Sox have too many high paid players. Arod will not be heading to the Bosox.
