They should be bringing in spotlights and heavy equipment, just like they did in New York after 9/11.

There are twenty missing people.

ITs dark and raining here (its about 5 minutes away from where I live).

We dont have the equipment. Minneapolis has a population of just about 400,000, as opposed to 8,000,000. We had the whole city's, St. Pauls' , and pretty much all availible subburbs emergency response teams on the job.

Also, they have taped off so much of that area, and its not in the middle of downtown. Theres not adequate light.

Also, it was changed to a recovery mission at about 9pm, according to the local news, so they are no longer searching for survivors.

I hope that anyone you know is okay.

a radical idea that will probably bring several thumbs down, but it is very possible that evidence needs to be removed without public scrutiny. Think about it. It's dark underwater in the day time as well. Its the Mississippi River, not the crystal clear ocean waters of the Bahamas. What difference does the darkness of night have to do with deep water diving in the Mississippi? As there are still 20 missing people, there is something amiss in the way I perceive this is being handled.

edit: to the person above me: How do they know all survivors have been found? They can say whatever they want, but they have no idea if there are people still alive needing immediate attention.

I wondered that at first. But, the missing people are likely underwater, and they have already said all survivors have been rescued. It will now be a recovery mission, and it's too dangerous to be diving underwater now (even with lights on).

By the way, they have only suspended underwater searches. There will be crews out there all night searching the other wreckage. Anyone who is still underwater is not alive.

By the time they got it set up- it'd be morning anyway. Minneapolis is NOT New York, when it comes to the availabilty to that kind of equipment. And you don't want MORE missing people- floating around those dark, debris filled waters...

It's hard to see in the dark. One may suppose that they will resume in the morning.

They didn't have to dive underwater in NY.
