is this a doomed marriage? i told my husband we needed counseling if we were going to stay married and he said "who will pay for it"

A divorce is much more expensive
and a happy marriage is much more valuable

I'm sorry this happend to you; I think that your wife really does not want to be married to you though and there is really nothing you can do to force her to come back. Just take this time to heal, I think counseling and the church is a good thing. Five months of marriage will be easier to forget than 25 years of marriage when some spouses walk out; You are still young, and what she did was rude but maybe she recognized the inevitible and that woudl be divorce later down the road when the situation was more complicated with kids etc. Good luck.

Then obviously he cares more about the finances than his marriage, so you should either go yourself and see if it can be worked out, or move out.
