Those friends that you have are considered leeches. You have to set ground rules for friends just like you do with your kids, employees, and coworkers. If they already don't know how to treat you then, they don't deserve you. You don't want friends that bail on you when you're cleaning a mess; if they do that then who's to say that they wont ditch you when you're really in trouble. The small things they do reflect a greater part of their personality. I think you should tell them to get with the program and if they don't kick them to the curb and get some new ones.

The friends that you are describing are "Temporary Friends". Obviously they want to use everything out of you that they can, then leave you when you have nothing left to offer. The world is like this, and I think that you should learn to adapt to that (unless you already have). Think of these "Temporary Friends" as temporary. You know that they're not going to stick with you forever, so have the most fun you can have while you're still with them. Do the same that they do; drink all their beer, eat all their food, leave their house a bloody mess.
You don't have to leave them.
But you should also make some true friends. True friends are friends that actually care for you and not try to use you. Even though you don't have anything to offer for them, they'll still be with you. These are the sort of people that you will grow up with for a much longer time, if not the rest of your life.
Have the best of both worlds :)

It all depends, if they're just there for the fun and games and then totally a stranger when it comes to everyday, then they are. If they're just like that but you know they are the ones that talk to you when no one else is, the mess they leave is trying to say, you guys are such good friends, they feel at home and comfortable. Have you ever been to their place and made a mess? If they were totally on your case, you know they are leeches. When in doubt that they take you for granted, walk down the other path.

They do sound immature, but
no keep them,, their fun, life would be no good if it we only had serious mature friends,,, everyone needs crazy friends,
but you need MATURE friends also, and smart enough to challenge you intellectually.
in a perfect world they would help you clean later, but they haven't thought about your feelings, or your budget on beer and food, that they just blew (NICE !!!)
sometimes friends grow apart emotionally, or you could just take a little break, and when you see them again, they might have caught up with you.

I think the best piece of advice I ever got was "Nobody does anything to you that you don't allow them to". Boyfriends, girlfriends, brothers, sisters, parents, in-laws, friends, bosses, neighbors...it applies to everything. Ok, maybe the first time it isn't your fault. The second time it is, because you didn't protest in the first place. Anyone who doesn't respect your boundaries, you don't need.

I think you know the answer to that question.
"Friend" is a very loose term these days.
Maybe look at how you treat people, not that I am saying anything here, but
we do meet ourselves, in the people we meet.
Treat people as you want to be treated, and "things" will change.

That's what a few of my close friends do sometimes. I'm fine with them making theirselves feel like home when they come over.
But if you think that it's a bigger problem than that, & you feel disrespected by them, then yes, you should probably get some new friends. :) But talk to them first, & let them know how you feel.

You already have answered your question: you need new friends. There are better and more interesting people out there with whom to be friends. Start over if you can. Good luck!

Most of my friends are guys, and are guilty of these habits. However, they're also incredibly funny and surprisingly good listeners when they try. I know they have my back when I need them to.
If all your friends do is grub off of you, they aren't your friends, are they? *pat*
