The question is still not clear. Who calls gay people the opposite sex? I've never heard of that. If you're a male, the opposite sex is female. If you're a female, the opposite sex is male. Gay has nothing to do with it.

What is your question?
People do not refer to gays as "the opposite sex"... they refer to them as gays. Sexual orientation and gender identity are two very distinct things, and furthermore the phrase "the opposite sex" is very misleading because there are actually five different medical sexes -- XY (standard male), XX (standard female), XXY (Kleinfelter's syndrome, a type of intersex), XO (Turner syndrome), and XXX syndrome -- and many forms of gender identity and expression.
