the fuel pump is located in the top of the fuel pump closest to the drivers side (some models are equipped with a "cheater door" in the floor pan) but you Will most likely have to drop the fuel tank just be sure when buying an aftermarket pump to match the two digit RPO code on top of the pump none matching pumps will cause premature failure in fuel system you will also need to have a set of GM fuel line disconnectors for this job (can be purchased at local parts store)

If your pump is not near the engine, check your fuel tank. Chevy / GMC is fond of placing the fuel pumps in the fuel tank

Inside the fuel tank and attached to the fuel sender assembly. These are not fun to get out and require a lot of effort plus a couple of special tools. It is usually a very dirty job as well.
