My grandmother passed away a while back. It was a sad time for everyone but we eventually got around to going through her belongings. My mom gave me a box of clothing to take to Goodwill and there were some bras in there. I got an idea. I seem to remember from an old hippie documentary that they used to have bra burnings and I was just wondering what kind of "Buzz" I would get from burning my grandmother's bras. How close do I have to be (to the burning bras) to get the full effect and is a dozen or so bras going to make me hallucinate? I don't want that. Any bra burning tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You gotta remember man, I was pretty wasted back then. I think they took them off first, yeah, I'm pretty sure they did. Standing downwind from burning rubber filled bras might give you a pretty good buzz. Don't bogart that D-cup my friend, pass it over to me...

Bra burning had nothing to do with the hippy movement-it was a feminist movement thing that was meant to declare themselves free of opression by men and society in general. A statement of independance for some women.

the "high" was that burning bras gave WOMEN a feeling of freedom (from staves, and the freedom to bounce). If you haven't been wearing bras then you won't get any high from burning them. Take them to Goodwill where they will probably put them in the trash anyiway.

I'm from the 50's/60's hippie age. I burned my bras and I think one must be a WOMAN to get the full affect of the BRA BURNING BUZZ.......but, go for it and see if it works for you, too. Your Gramma will love you for it!

I think you've got it all wrong. Being a hippie wasn't just about getting high or having hallucinations. It was a group state of mind, a unified consciousness. But in every group there are some, pardon the cliche, "bad apples" and yes, they believed drugs were ok, but there were ones that glamorized drug use and rebelled in it.

Depends if they're made from burlap or hemp. Hemp bras gave the best buzz. Cotton and fiberglas bras didn't do much for anfaowh pah oqhroghAH
