because if so i'd like to share the experience romanically with my sort-of bf. So is it really true will Mars really be visible on the 27th ?

On a clear night Mars is always visible. It look like a bright star and on the 27th it will be a bit brighter than normal, but not anywhere near the size of the moon.

If you have, at least, a 500mm telescope it will be very clear and the rifts and mounts possibly visible. Without a scope it will just be a bright star.

I've heard this as well. This event isn't going to happen for another few thousand years. Make sure you take a look at about midnight!
