You're right! It's all BS! Mew cannot breed, neither can most legendaries. You can't believe everything you read online, even if it's all organized into a Pokedex, especially when you're getting people to answer questions-LOL!-remember that it was posted by a fallible human. Why they put that in I have no idea, even a hacked or sharked Mew probably wouldn't be hatched but rather encountered, so forget about info from that site! Perhaps it's just a default answer?

The reason that it says that there are a certain number of steps in order to hatch a mew egg is because you could hack to get an egg with a mew in it. The resulting egg would require that many steps to hatch

that data is probably stored deep within the game cartridge, and the web site simply read that data and put it down, even though you can't hatch a mew. thats why if you had a hacking device you could enter a code to get a mew egg; then you would walk those number of steps, catch a mew, and why the game doesn't realize that you hacked.
game developers often hide portions of a game within the game because their boss changed his mind and decided to take that part out. again, thats why u can get hidden levels in games that wheren't there before you hacked them. same thing with a mew egg; they put the egg data in the game, but decided not to actually use that data. instead, you can hack up a mew egg, then that data is used.
beleive me, u can hack up a mew. i've seen a mew hatch ;)

The sites offer a disclaimer why they put a number of steps to hatch a legendary. It is because they don't actually have one, but if there is a legendary egg it will surely take forever to hatch. Thus they put an insanely number of steps to be taken. Also, hacking the game will reveal that information.

becasue im pretty sure when someone make a site with pokedex info, the pages for each pokemon is the same. either that or to make it look neater by having equal information on each pokemon. if one pokemon had info on the eggs, and another didnt that would make the page look odd. i believe it is while thye are designing the site to make it easier

Mew won't breed with Ditto. Mew won't breed with anything.
