hi, i'm not too familiar with baseball rules. in mlb, is there such a thing as "walk-off-sacrice-ground-out" ? this is where the batting team wins the game.

i've heard of walk-off-sac-fly, but never seen one. how about "walk-off-double-play" (where batting team wins) ? is that possible?

Well usually the infield will try to get out the person whos gonna score in that kind of situation not a double play unless it's a for sure out.

I guess the word is possible, but you'd have to have a brain cramp. Tie score, bases loaded, no outs, bottom of the ninth. Guy hits a tough grounder to short. He flips to second for the force instead of going home, and the second baseman goes to first. It's a double play, but the winning run does indeed score. So it's a walk-off double play.

Of course, the infielders have to go home in that situation. You could make up some situation in which there's a 6-2-3 double play, and the first baseman thinks there are three outs and flips the ball away toward the pitcher's mound ... so the runner who started on second comes all the way around to score. There wouldn't be an error, but it would be a walk-off double play.

One time I saw a game when the home team was down a run. It had the bases loaded with no one out. A guy singled to right. One run obviously was going to score. The outfielder threw home in an attempt to get the winning run. The first baseman cut off the throw. Think about that. He threw over to third to get a runner, but it didn't matter ... the game was over. It was Class A ball.

actually both are possible. A walk-off-sacrifice-ground-out is very possible. Say there is a runner at third base. The batter decides to bunt to sacrifice himself but score the runner from third. If it is successful you have a walk off sacrifice ground out.

A walk off double play can also easily occur. If there are no outs and some runners on say first and third base. A batter can hit a ground ball and the defensive team can turn double play all while the runner on third base scores.

Hope this was helpful

This is possible, but not likely. The only way this could happen would be if it were 1st and 3rd with one out in a tie game. The batter hits a ground ball and the defense goes for a double play but fails. The batter is charged with a ground out, but the winning run scores.

it is possible to get a walk-off-sacrifice-ground-out, all you have to do is get a groundout with one out or less and a runner on 3rd base. a walk-off-double-play is the same thing but there can't be any outs.ex. there are runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs the batter grounds into a double play but the runner on 3rd scores the game-winning run.

You can "walk off" anything as long as a base runner scores.
