I like the country. Very varied sights, nature etc.
The people are similar to us (I live in the netherlands) - but slightly more formal, polite and serious.
Having said that, they are also capable of being relaxed and friendly - but they need to get to know you a bit.
If you speak a little german then they are willing to help you with the language, or try in english. I`m not sure you will find many spanish speakers there.
I have been to / stayed in Cologne, Hannover and Schwanstein - and everywhere i met friendly people usually willing to have a chat. I must admit that for me it was easy, as i speak german quite decently ;)

Well, you're not alone. I wouldn't mind living there myself. It's probably the most mellow place on earth - and I'd know, because I've been around. Surprisingly relaxed, and really pretty.
The people are nice. A bit intense at times, always trying to get to the bottom of things and finding universal truths in everything... maybe that's why they had all those poets and philosophers, even if a few of 'em kinda lost it in the end.
I don't think it's that different from Spain though.

i lived there for 2 yrs in hanau outside of frankfurt. i dig germany. not a fast-paced, IM, gotta have it all right now society like America which is a good thing. their full of history and proud of well most of it- minus hitler obviously. the people are welcoming as long as ur not ignorant toward their culture and care to be a part of them, u kno? christmas markets, beer fests, and all their different holidays are lots of fun. clubs and night life are exciting. lovely place all around from the alps to berlin to koln and hamburg. all around just a comfortable place to be in, u feel alive there, comfortably alive with no one rushing you around and no real pressure and the place is just beautiful.
